Beefeaters are soldiers. They have been in the army for a long time. They protect the Tower of London.
No one is sure how they got their name. The most agreed idea is that they had the right to eat as much meat as they wanted. Many years ago lots of people could not afford to buy meat.

The Tower Guard

The Tower Guard are young soldiers. They protect the Tower of London and guard the crown jewels. They wear a tall, black cap. It is called a bearskin cap.
